I thought that college students were supposed to be adults.  I thought, once you left the chaos that is high school, that you were supposed to mature, and realize that the greater world requires more from you than 5th grade pranks.  So here is what happened:

I have a locker in the Geology Club room on campus.  Since I also work out at the school gym, I had a bag in there with some workout clothes, a bottle of shampoo/conditioner, my gym locker lock, etc.  I accidentally squished my shampoo bottle (without knowing it at the time) and it leaked all over everything in my locker.  That included my homework, books that didn't belong to me, my clothes, my bracelet... everything that was in my locker.  Unknown to me, it also leaked down into the person below me's locker.  

Apparently, that person, or someone who knew them, decided that proper payback would be to smear the shampoo all over the front of my locker.... completely ruining all the pictures I had posted on there. 

Now, if I had *INTENTIONALLY* squirted shampoo into this person's locker, I would understand.. and probably laugh at... the retaliation.  But it was an *ACCIDENT*.  I didn't mean to have the shampoo leak into their locker.  I was going to offer to help that person clean up their locker... but after seeing what they did to me, I say " F*&$ that, clean it up your own damn self."

So does anyone else who's a student get sick right around or just after finals?  I find that every semester, I end up getting sick right around finals.  I think it's that all the stress that has built up over the semester leaves all at once and it leaves my body kinda defenseless. I think I just need to sleep for a good weekend or so and I'l be good as new.

Be that as it may, I'm excited about art projects after finals.  I might be a science major now, but I still love art and need some way to express my creativity.  And since my voice is starting to fail me so I can't sing much anymore, I have to draw.

Ok all you art-y people on here....

I need art ideas.

I have a stack of 8 x10 canvases that are taunting me from my closet shelf.  I need something to work on over the winter break.  A couple of them are going to be used for my game characters and other stuff like that.. but that still leaves a good dozen or so that are just begging to be used.  They are all different base colors (they're actually cut-outs from framing mats that my aunt saved for me when she was really into framing her own amazing art) I also have one longer piece of masonite.. probably 6 x 24 that I'm gonna do a wall scroll type thing on, but i need inspiration pictures for that one still.  So I guess what I'm trying to ramble about is that I would like some input as to what I should do with these canvases. I'll scan them when I'm done if you guys want the finished product.

I have all sorts of media: paint (acrylics), pencil, charcol, pen, ink, colored pencil, or even digital if I can get my tablet working again (damn drivers not working >:( )

My neck has been hurting me for the past week and a half and I'm tired of it.  Fortunately, we have a chiropractic office on campus.  Fortunately, it's only $5 to visit.  UN-fortunately, they aren't open today AND I'd need an appointment anyways, so I wouldn't be able to get in today even if they WERE open.

Like the wind, life blows.

Ever feel like simply punching a fellow classmate?  A straight shot to the jaw would feel quite satisfying.  Here's the situation:

A student whom I have more than one class with (let's call him "AJ") declined to go on a field trip because he said "I can't miss chemistry class that day."  Now this field trip wasn't any normal field trip.  It required a roster to be sent in far in advance of exactly who was going to be going and all their personal information.  These people would flip out if you were even 5 min. late to the meeting point (which they did, according to another student who went).  So it was a big deal when AJ, who had previously said that he was going, said that he couldn't go only 3 days before the event.   And the reason he gave was that he couldn't miss chemistry.  I have chemistry class with him, so I looked for him on that day.  Lo and behold, he never showed up.  So on Monday, when time for chem class rolled around again, myself *and* my fellow geology majors who attended chemistry class that previous day were talking about how AJ basically skipped class for no good reason.  Well apparently, word got back to AJ that we were talking about him, and he somehow fixated on me in particular as being the gossip starting point.  So, minerology class rolls around on Tuesday, and we have reached the point in class where we take a break before starting out lab assignment.  I overhear, as I'm walking down the stairs, AJ talking to another student in the class... saying "Oh well Kathryn was saying that I wasn't there...."  in a very condescending tone.  At this point in his sentance, he heard me comming down the stairs behind them and he stopped talking until I was out of normal earshot.  I have better than average hearing, so I heard him continue to talk about me as he walked down the hallway.  I felt like decking him.  This isn't the first time that he's been a little snot to me.  I'm torn between two choices in dealing with this... be an uber bitch to him for the rest of the semester and hope he grows up a little over winter break, because this is not the last time I'll see him in classes.... or just ignore him completly and pretend he dosen't even exist.

Thoughts? Comments? Spare change?

 So what's with the heat wave in the middle of October?  It's the 23rd and it's supposed to be around 90 degrees today.  What's with that? I can't wait till it starts getting cold again.  I love winter.

In other news,  my geology field techniques class is going to be interesting for the rest of the semester.  I have chronic knee problems, which doesn't really jive with climbing up and down hills and/or mountains.  SInce the class consists mostly of field trips to places with names like Marble Mountains.... I am not able to participate in most of the class activities.   I have talked with my teacher, because I really don't want to drop the class over half-way through the semester.  Hopefully I can do some other type of assignment to make up the points.  I am going to be starting physical therapy and working out, because some of my other classes that I have lined up are going to be the same type of class.  I have about a year to get myself into better shape before I have to worry about field trips again.  Anyways, class is going to start. 

I'm having a chick problem, and maybe the females on my f-list can help me out...



So if you ladies could help me out, that would be just lovely.

Well, my boyfriend finally found a place to stay.  It's a room in a house, and it's actually quite nice.  We have a mutual friend of ours who currently lives in Nevada.  He's going to be moving out here to go to school.  So once that happens, the two of them will get an apartment together, which is what my boyfriend really wants to do.  He doesn't want to rent from/with people he doesn't know. 

That being said, you would think I wouldn't be stressed anymore.  Wrong.  I still don't know if I'm going to have a job when the next semester rolls around.  But I don't know what my weekend availability is going to be because I was told I will be taking lots of weekend field trips with my geology class.  So I couldn't even set up a weekend job or something until I know that.  This next semester is going to be quite stressful for me.  Chemistry, Physics lab, and two geology classes. Oi.

Amazing site.  I am going to have to finish some artwork and get it loaded up there and see if it will sell.  That will be my summer project.  Raptorix... you might want to look into this as well, since there's no cost to open a Basic Shop... and you can start selling your stuff after AX if you find it sells well. In other news: getting amped up for AX next week, going to give my art muse a swift kick to her lazy rear and start drawing more for those game characters I've been working on, and still helping my boyfriend find a place to stay while he's working....  /hurray stress

Well, I figure I had better post so that no one thinks I've dropped off the face of the earth or something like that.  Here are the current happenings in my life as it stands right now:

• Boyfriend moved out here on the 18th.  He's currently staying at my friend's place while he does job interviews and looks for places to live.
• Enjoying summer vacation while I wait for school and work to start back up again on the 23rd.

And that's about all. Nothing too exciting.  I'm enjoying my vacation because it's rare that I get one.  I am making it my goal to get a tan this summer.  Really.  I will. Just you wait.

As of this day (and as of 11:13am if you wanted to know) I have spent 26 years circling the sun on this little rock spit-wad of the universe.

I should be out partying...

I should be with my family...

I should NOT be at work waiting for some stupid *&^%$(*&*%^ to come in and take her make up exam.  I should not be sitting here bored outta my mind while two jocks study for an exam that they're not going to pass anyways.

And yet here I sit.

Well my art muse is going to get a swift kick to the pants.  I have been asked by an online friend of mine from FFXI to draw some characters for a video game that he's writing the story for.  It sounds like it's going to be an interesting concept at least, and I'm trying to make the characters as yummy looking as possible. That being said,  there's so much in my mind that is just begging to be drawn now.  I don't know if I can keep up.  Maybe I should create a list of what I want to draw and make some little thumbnail sketches to remind myself of what I was thinking of at the time....

My boyfriend is coming into town on the 24th. *squee!!*

[ Real Life News]

We're finally getting the upgrades to our solar panels done today.  We've been dealing (since October) with the city of Fountain Valley's incompetent and solo inspector for this sort of stuff, as well as with Southern California Edison (SCE) and the San Diego based company (Sullivan Electric) that's installing the panels.  The panels are not going to supply our house, but instead, put power back into the city grid.  Basically, we'll be selling energy back to the city.  That will cancel out our own power usage, so our electric bill will be next to nil.  That is, it will be next to nil once the city gets their thumbs outta their butts about nitpicky things and finally approves them to be turned on.  Like I mentioned earlier, we had the panels first installed in mid-October.... it's now March and we have not been able to use the panels to generate electricity yet. Apparently, the city requires an upgrade that thankfully we'll be getting for free because everything has taken so long to get going.

What this means in the short term is that we'll be without power for about 10 hours today while SCE and Sullivan Electric does the upgrades and links the panels into the city power grid.  So I'm probably going to come home from work at 6:30 to a dark house.  Which will suck for trying to do my physics homework and work on my oceanography paper.  But at the same time, it will be kinda cool to have candles lit all around the house.  Haven't done that in a while.

I think I ended up tweaking my back at work.  I was lifting the boxes of rock samples onto the shelves in the back room, and I had to lift stuff over my head.  I think I did it wrong, because for the past few days, my back has been killing me.

Either that, or it's the cramps.  Perhaps a combination of both.

Anyways... raptorix... not this Friday, but next Friday, wanna meet together for lunch or something? Might be this Friday if I get paid, I'll have to see when my direct deposit goes through.

Sitting here in my physics class (yes I'm being bad by being online during class.. so what).. and I realize how wasted my time is on fridays.  I get on the bus at 6:30am... just to get to school by about 8am. Then I have class from 9am to 9:50am... then I'm back on the bus for another hour and a half ride home.  I'm on the bus for about 4x longer than I'm actually in class.  I need to find something more productive to do on Fridays.   Maybe I'll stop at the Anime Nuts store on the way home.  Not like I have any money to be shopping, but I can always look. 

I know it may seem that all I do is complain on my livejournal... and that may or may not be true.  I have a lot of things going on, and most of them are not good.  This thought came to me before my class this morning.  I wanted to write it down for posterity or something like that...

Cleaning out the laptop's My Documents folder uncovered a few little fanfics that I had started writing and never finished.  I need to give my muses a swift kick to the pants and get back on track with this stuff.  Too many unfinished things.

I have started a new community... it's called bleach_songs.

It's basically where people can put the lyrics from their favorite songs and pair them with their favorite anime characters.  Probably a lame idea, I know.  But I do this all the time and I just thought I'd share.
